Source: Zuständigkeitsfinder Schleswig-Holstein (Linie6PLus)

Service Description

If you have German citizenship, are entitled to vote and are returning to Germany from abroad, you can have yourself entered on the electoral roll for the
European elections if the requirements for registration are not met ex officio.

If you have German citizenship and move back to Germany from abroad, you may not automatically be entered on the electoral roll for the European elections.

This depends on when you re-registered in Germany after your return. If you did so after the 42nd day and before the 20th day before the election, you must apply in writing to be entered on the electoral roll.

  • You affirm in lieu of an oath that you are entitled to vote and declare that no application for registration on the electoral roll has been made elsewhere.
  • The authority decides on your application and sends out a notification of election or a rejection notice.
