Travel mobility with disabilities

People with disabilities or reduced mobility have certain guaranteed rights, including the right to free assistance when traveling by plane, train, bus or boat. Did you know that if you have reduced mobility due to a disability, you may be entitled to an EU parking card?

EU parking card for persons with disabilities

Applicable regulations

On roads and in parking lots, parking spaces marked with a wheelchair symbol are reserved for people with disabilities. Do not park in parking spaces marked with a name, vehicle registration number or parking card number; these are reserved for other people with disabilities.

Parking on streets

• You can park in no-parking zones for up to three hours. You must indicate your arrival time using a parking disk.
• You may exceed the permitted time on streets or in parking zones with temporary parking permits.
• You may park free of charge and for an unlimited period of time in parking spaces or on streets where parking meters or parking machines are used and parking time is limited.
• You may park for up to three hours in residents' parking areas.
• Provided you are not obstructing the flow of traffic, you may park outside the markings or in traffic-calmed zones.
• Only park in pedestrian zones if this is expressly permitted there. You may park in pedestrian zones for loading and unloading during the specified periods - check locally.

Note: These special regulations only apply if no other parking facilities are indicated in the vicinity. You may not park for longer than 24 hours.
