Repatriation costs for deceased in statutory accident insurance recovered

Source: Zuständigkeitsfinder Schleswig-Holstein (Linie6PLus)

Service Description

In the event of accidents, insured persons under statutory accident insurance may die away from their place of residence.

In the event of death as a result of an insured event under statutory accident insurance, the employers' liability insurance associations and accident insurance funds reimburse the costs of transporting the deceased to his or her former place of residence. Occupational, commuting and school accidents as well as recognized occupational diseases are considered insured events.

If you have paid for such a repatriation, you will get your money back. The employers' liability insurance associations and accident insurance funds will check on their own initiative whether you are entitled to reimbursement. An application is therefore not necessary.

Process flow

You do not have to apply for reimbursement of the transfer costs. The entitlement to reimbursement is examined ex officio by the responsible employers' liability insurance association or accident insurance fund.

  • The employers' liability insurance association or accident insurance fund will inform the possible beneficiaries known to it to enable them to file the claim.

Nevertheless, you can contact the responsible Berufsgenossenschaft or Unfallkasse online or by mail.
